NBU Receives Third and Final Patient
Description
In November 2014, the NBU received a third and final patient, Martin Salia, MD. He was exposed to Ebola while treating patients in Sierra Leone. Tragically, his disease was very advanced by the time he was flown back to the United States, and he succumbed to the illness shortly after arrival in the unit. The NBU team continues to honor the legacy of Dr. Salia with a plaque on display in the unit highlighting his service.
