An alum of UNMC's College of Medicine, Kent Lacey, MD practiced family medicine in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Jack Elliott’s hometown, for 37 years. Dr. Lacey is known for having dedicated his life's work to providing the best care for Nebraskans as a physician, educator, and leader. He served as medical director of the West Nebraska Veterans Home as well as director of the Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation and the Rehabilitation Services departments of Regional West Health Services. Throughout his career, Dr. Lacey has been lauded for his mentorship of nursing, physician assistant, and medical students and family medicine residents. He has been an active preceptor and was very involved in training students through the Regional West Medical Center Family Practice Residency program.

Dr. Lacey is renowned in his community for his compassionate and caring manner in serving patients and their families. In one especially memorable moment, Dr. Lacey made a reverse house call – while he had to stay home to watch his own kids, he invited a mother to bring her sick child to see him at his house. He recommended an ER visit for a spinal tap, which showed the young girl had meningitis.

Dr. Lacey is a member of the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians and a fellow with the American Academy of Family Practitioners. He is also a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association and the past president and board member of the Nebraska Heart Association.
